How Armoire’s Previously-Rented Items Help Women Experiencing Homelessness
On Martin Luther King Jr. Day, the Armoire team and members took part in United Way’s Family Resource Exchange to give back to the Seattle-area community. The Family Resource Exchange Series brings volunteers, service providers, and homeless or at-risk families together in communities across King County to provide housing and other vital resources tailored to their needs. At this unique event, families are connected to local housing resources, employment, legal services, child care assistance, a hot meal, warm weather items, and more!

Our mission at Armoire is to bring Boss Ladies together through clothing and community. We invited our members to volunteer alongside us to see the positive impacts of their Armoire membership. Their enthusiasm and caring spirit inspired us!
I am so grateful to our members for supporting Armoire so we can live out our values at events like United Way’s Family Resource Exchange. The effects of their rentals extend far beyond their own closets.

Your membership helps us give back to the Boss Ladies who need it most! Throughout the event, the Armoire team handed out previously-rented items to Seattle-area women and children experiencing homelessness. We’re grateful to extend the lives of our garments even longer and give back to women in our community.

Between each renter, each item is carefully examined for quality. Those with minor pilling, snagging and wear are set aside to be donated. While these minor defects may keep these items from being up to our strict standards, their life cycle is far from over. 100% of the clothes our members don’t purchase are donated to Dress For Success Seattle or events like United Way’s Family Resource Exchange. Each donation helps support job training, financial education, and employment for women.

It was so special to see our members volunteering alongside us. It shows us that our Boss Ladies care equally about the same causes we do and motivates us to continue making a positive impact in our Seattle community.
