“I use this service to try out new styles. Renting clothes gives me the opportunity to see how I feel and look in something for an entire day rather than for just a few minutes in a dressing room.”
Past. I grew up in the San Francisco Bay Area and I graduated from Cornell and Stanford Universities. I previously ran the enterprise business at Dow Jones and was a Managing Director at Bloomberg Ventures.
Present. Currently, I’m the CEO and co-founder of Fairygodboss, the largest social hub for career-minded women that provides millions of women with peer and recruiting connections, jobs, career advice, and hard-to-find intel about how companies treat women. I’m also a mom to three wonderful, little kids.
Future. I’d love to see Fairygodboss continue to grow and fulfill its potential as a force to improve the workplace for women.
I’d describe my style as comfortable. I don’t literally mean I have to be in gym clothes but over the years, my power outfit has evolved from something that you would have described as a business casual dress with a blazer, to something more like jeans, a nice blouse and some smart shoes (with not too high heels). It may be because I work at a startup, but I have to be wearing something that I feel I can run around in between a wide variety of meeting types (e.g. I may need to be on stage in one hour and pick up my 1-year-old in the next hour who has bananas all over his shirt).
Why did you join?
I thought it was an interesting concept to be able to freshen up my wardrobe without having to physically go into a shop or commit to a purchase for the longer term.
“I enjoy the convenience of the Armoire service. As the CEO of a growing company and mother of three, shopping is not my idea of fun. By having clothes sent directly to me, I’m able to try out new pieces without ever having to leave home.”

I enjoyed wearing a long vest which is a nice transition piece as winter morphs into spring in NYC.
I was surprised that rental is very easy to get used to!
Get Sh*t Done Mode
I think I’m actually trying to curb this aspect of my personality because it’s my default zone. I have tried to improve as a friend, family member and manager by listening before trying to leap into “problem solving” mode. I’ve come to realize because I’m always trying to get stuff done, that it can impinge on my ability to really listen empathetically and I’m working hard on not always trying to get stuff done at every moment.
