About Prima Dona
Dona Sarkar, Founder & Designer of Prima Dona, gets on planes constantly — journeying to the far ends of the earth in search of the perfect fabric for each Prima Dona piece. Prima Dona tailor hand-cuts and stitches each garment when it is ordered. No two pieces are the same and not a scrap of fabric is wasted in their bespoke process. Pieces are designed by visionary artists and detail-oriented engineers, tailored all over the world, and quality controlled in Seattle by extremely picky testers before being shipped to you. Her bold patterns are a favorite amongst adventurous Armoire members.

The story of Prima Dona — in Dona’s words:
“Prima Dona is a fashion line for the ethical bad@ss who has a statement to make… and is not afraid to stand out in a crowd. I designed this collection specially for Armoire since the bosslady is exactly the target audience!
This has been my lifelong dream and it’s insane to see it becoming a reality through my partnership with Armoire! I plan to run this business as a side-hustle for the rest of my tech career and then full-time after that.”
Dona Sarkar is a longtime Armoire member, software engineering leader at Microsoft, a fiction writer and a now fashion designer living in Seattle, Washington. She’s living out her life-long dream of building a fashion line that’s not evil. She attended New York Fashion Academy several years ago and was horrified to learn how destructive the fashion industry is. Did you know that fashion is the second biggest cause of pollution on earth? Our throwaway garments, especially from fast fashion, end up in landfills all over the world.
