How Boss Lady Founder Danna Redmond uses Armoire to Take Small Risks

Past.
I’ve had a career spanning online advertising, IT and product management, and worked at Microsoft for many years. After jumping off the corporate track, I spent the summer in Spain. When I moved back to Seattle, I started a small consulting business and co-hosted a podcast.
Present.
I’m the CEO and Co-Founder of HeyThrivy, a tech-enabled personal concierge service. I create tools and services for busy people to manage their busy households. I also serve on a non-profit board, support women’s educational organizations, and am mom to an Ultimate Frisbee loving 13 year old son.
Future.
Professionally, continue helping individuals make time for what matters to them. Personally, make time for travels to sunny locales and quality time with family and friends.
Her Style
Lots of black and grey. I prefer modern, clean lines — without ruffles or florals. Armoire encourages me to try different styles. I’ve definitely added more bold colors to the mix.

Her Armoire
Why did you join?
I first signed up for Armoire because friends and colleagues raved about the service. Every time I complimented someone’s outfit, and they said “It’s Armoire,” I knew I needed in. As a start-up founder, I have tons of events and meetings to attend. I tend to see similar people at these events, and was wearing the same 5 things every time, so I needed to expand my wardrobe without spending a fortune.
“I find all the right clothes with Armoire. The service allows me to try new styles, colors and designers I wouldn’t have purchased for myself because of the cost and commitment. I find Armoire is a low risk way to take impactful risks.”
Why rental?
I love the never ending closet and the time it saves me. Armoire allows me to have new and different clothes for the various events and aspects of my life. It allows me to find just the right outfit for everything I do. Going out for a date night — check. Important work meeting — check. Girls weekend — check. Traveling — check. Casual week — check. Special event — check. I find all the right clothes with Armoire. The service allows me to try new styles, colors and designers I wouldn’t have purchased for myself because of the cost and commitment. I find Armoire is a low risk way to take impactful risks.
What’s your favorite part?
How quick and easy it is to find new things to wear. The selection suggestions are spot on. The algorithm and stylists do a great job presenting me with options I love. I also plan my looks in advance more often. I look ahead at my weeks while selecting my next shipment, so I always have the right outfit for the occasion. I also like contributing to a more eco-friendly world — I am more attune to the amount of waste in the fashion industry since renting.
Your favorite pieces?
Oh so many! I love a good blazer or jacket. I also love every Diane Von Furstenberg dress I have worn.
Her World
What’s your get sh*t done mode?
I am my most productive in the afternoon from about 1pm to 7pm. I try to schedule serious heads-down, creative work-time during these hours and it’s amazing how much I get done. I am also a list maker. I make a priorities list each day to drive my business forward and then I go after them. I have a list of longer term projects or to-do’s, and I love to cross things off my list.
What’s your advice for professional women?
Make a plan and go for it. Don’t let self-doubt or hesitation hold you back from your career goals.
