In the News: Ambika Talks Clothing Rental and Sustainability #EarthDayEveryDay
Sustainability is part of our mission at Armoire!
Did you know that the fashion industry is one of the largest contributors to pollution globally? Making a dent in the massive waste produced by the industry is part of our mission.
Landfills received 11.13 million tons of textiles in 2018 alone. Furthermore, only 14% of all textiles are recycled.

We love helping you look (and feel) fabulous while having a positive impact on our planet.
Rental, buying secondhand, and upcycling are all key parts of the circular fashion economy. And we’re proud to play a role in these more planet-friendly habits. According to this report by thredUP, renting one garment not only increases its number of wears, but also reduces its carbon footprint by 30% over its lifetime.
Check out this interview on New Day Northwest with Amity Addrisi, where Chief Boss Lady Ambika Singh talks about Armoire and how clothing rental helps combat the harmful environmental impacts of the apparel industry.
By renting your clothes from Armoire, you’re reducing your carbon footprint while still getting to enjoy new, exciting clothes! All of the benefits of fast fashion without the waste.
Some ways you can live greener and still be your fabulous self:
- Buy less, rent more
- Shop pre-loved before new
- Shop upcycled…or mend/upcycle your own items
- Buy from ethical & sustainable brands
- Donate or sell those clothes you don’t absolutely love
Did you know that in addition the renting clothing to you, we work with sustainable and ethical brands, mend and upcycle clothing (see vids below), and sell what we rent at a great discount?
